Shirley is based on my boss. I work at the safety and security office at my college and we'd had a hard time keeping Directors around. But when "Shirley" came, she made everything ship-shape in no time at all. She's a really nice lady too. And before you as, no, as far as I know she doesn't read this comic, so she doesn't know I'm kissing up to her. Though I know some of my co-workers do.

Shirley was actually technically the inspiration for The Green Avenger. There may be a story later on that was the genesis of GA, and started this whole thing, which was based on a real life occurance for which Shirley was the impetus. We'll see. :)
